Vinyl TLC: Essential Record Care

Proper Storage

It is essential to store your records in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep records upright and stored in anti-static sleeves or inner sleeves to prevent scratches and dust buildup. Never stack records on top of each other as this can cause warping and damage.

Cleaning Techniques

Regular cleaning is crucial in maintaining the quality of your records. Use a carbon fiber brush to remove surface dust before playing your records. For deeper cleaning, consider investing in a record cleaning machine or use a solution of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol to remove grime and static buildup.

Handling Precautions

When handling records, always hold them by the edges to avoid leaving fingerprints or oils from your fingers on the grooves. Never touch the playing surface of the record with bare hands. Additionally, avoid using household cleaners, solvents, or alcohol-based solutions on your records as they can damage the vinyl.
